In the 1920s, French cafés and
restaurants often put their menus on dinnerware, literally,
and diners read white porcelain plates, bowls, cups, and
saucers to know what was being served. The South End store
Michelle Willey sells the Brasserie Collection by Pillivuyt,
which includes reproductions of these café pieces.
