Besides being the home of Santa, many believe that Finland is the world's capital of design. Finnish designers turn everyday objects into works of art. For one weekend, we will be displaying a wide range of housewares and gifts from Finland. They are bold, clever and always thoughtful -- the perfect holiday gift whether or not you still believe in Santa.

These stylish and colorful 100% wool felt products are from Verso Design, one of the hottest design houses in Finland. Since developing their innovative Verso rug, founders interior architect Kirsikka Savonen and textile artist Tuttu Sillanpää have branched out to table top equipment, textiles and accessories.
Founded in 1920, Jokipiin Pellava, a third generation family business specializes in weaving linen textiles. Their luxurious towels and bathrobes, wash mittens as well as kitchen towels, aprons, tablecloths, place mats and runners are produced in a sustainable manner. Besides incorporating locally grown Finnish organic linen in their textiles, they use no chemicals or water during the manufacturing process.
Simple, beautiful, functional -- Combining functional design with high quality materialsm, Majamoo is a Finnish design company that produces timeless, quality tableware and accessories for everyday use. Their handmade birch plywood trivets and trays are light and simple, great for use on a casual tabletop.
Lovi is a Finnish design company established by designer Anne Paso. Made of high quality birch plywood, these postcard-size packages include everything for making the perfect holiday decorations, and, Lovi is environmentally-friendly. For every small decorative tree purchased, Lovi plants a tree in a developing country (3 trees / medium decorative tree, 5 trees / large decorative trees). Since autumn 2008, Lovi has planted more than 1200 trees.
Artist Päivi Rintaniemi is the founder and head designer of Amfora, a Finnish company that creates functional ceramic tableware and home décor items designed for everyday use. The timeless design, high quality materials and manufacturing methods and the classical coloration of black, white and yellow guarantee that Amfora’s products never go out of fashion.
Designed in Finland, and fabricated in Italy using recycled leather scraps, architect and industrial designer Ari Korolainen creates environmentally friendly, functional pieces. With his manufacturing company, Private Case, they meticulously design and professionally create a wide range of products such as briefcases, notebooks, folders, calendars, packaging and storage units all with great hardware, pencils and a suede-like feel.
